We can all agree the fashion industry hasn’t been kind to the planet.  The number of resources used in apparel factories and manufacturers and harmful emissions across the globe is huge.  At Blue Sol Apparel that is one of our driving missions to help facilitate change.  Whether you’re out on the beach, hiking a new trail, or grabbing cocktails with your people, we want you to look good and feel even better in your clothes.  All while having peace of mind that your BSA outfit you’re rocking is made of sustainable materials that protect our planet.  Our favorite of all sustainable fabric is Bamboo, here’s why you need to add Bamboo to your closet.

  1. It’s a renewable resource

Bamboo is the fastest growing plant in the world.  Growing at a rate of 1-4 inches per day.  So being super Bill Nye the Science guy here, buuut Bamboo is in the grass family, known as Poaceae.  Grass does a wonderful thing and basically kind of grows itself, making Bamboo an incredible resource to sustainable clothing.  It's constantly replenishing itself.

  1. Buttery-soft

We really mean it’s soft.  Like VERY soft.  If you think of a Bamboo plant, its stalk is smooth.  This means the fibers once broken down are smooth, causing no chemical treatment during the process into a textile.  Now think of a cotton plant.  There are spurs and sharp edges that must be chemically treated to remove.  With Bamboo the fibers are smooth and cause no irritants to skin.

  1. Moisture-wicking

Bamboo can take on 3x times more water than it’s weight.  That means it will absorb the water and keep you dry.  So work out in your bamboo, go for a hike, walk outside if you live anywhere in the Southern portion of the US like us, and Bamboo will come through!

  1. Odor Repellant + Hypoallergenic

Bamboo apparel should be your new favorite workout companion.  Bamboo fibers possess anti-bacterial agents called Bamboo Kun, meaning it can grow without the use of pesticides and fertilizers.  Why is this important?  Because Bamboo can kill bacteria that pose a threat to the plant, this factor holds true in textile form.  Odor and bacteria are no sweat (pun intended) for bamboo fibers.  You can leave the gym and head strait to brunch sweat and odor-free.

  1. Breathable + Insulating

Bamboo fibers create a cross-weave pattern allowing for micro-gaps creating absorption and ventilation.  Leaving you feel cooler in the summer and warmer in the winter.
